I took lots of pics of Kendall playing in the snow during Seattle's snowstorm but this image was my favorite by far. It's in no way technically perfect--my husband is blurry from the low shutter speed, it was at dusk and light was fading fast--but I love it because it really captures Kendall's personality right now. Fun. Happy. And full of Joy... She is truly a ray of sunshine, even on a dark winter day.

Seattle had a huge snowstorm about a week ago. We got close to 10 inches at our house (although I forgot to document most of it, oop-sies). But here's a pic of some driveway lanterns we saw on one of our snowy walks... Snow is pretty. For a little while anyway :)

But I didn't mind. :) Being a mommy is a whole lotta work, more than anyone or anything could ever really prepare you for. But it's also very worth it. And I just love her...

So. I am finally at a place where I have time for personal blogging again. I am just not sure I have time for three blogs... Which means this blog may be biting the dust. I work full time and eat leftovers at lunch most days. But sometimes I go out and it's a nice break. It sucks when the server nonchalantly asks if you want something, making you think it's included with your meal, only to find out that it's not. I'm not naming any names or anything :) but the extra $1.30 it cost me for your zesty cheese sauce left me and my burrito feeling slightly annoyed. And it wasn't even good cheese sauce, Boo.

The Story of Just Netters...

There once was a girl. Her name was Lanette. When she was little her family lovingly referred to her as "Netters" and "Netterbug." Many people still call her those names today.

A few years back Lanette started a blog. It was a blog about her, her husband and their life together. Lanette named that blog "Rob and Netters." Fast forward a year and Lanette decided she needed a blog all to herself--one for her growing photography hobby, her random pictures and quirky thoughts. And so a new blog was born. She named it "Just Netters" because it was a blog about only Netters and all things Netterbug. For a while "Just Netters" became the temporary home for Lanette's photography business but has since returned to it's original self.

I hope I'll be using this blog a lot in the future. I missed having this outlet in my life for the last year while it became my photography business site. And honestly it was during a time when I probably needed it most, my life has been full of change this last year and I've had a lot to say! I'm definitely glad to have "Just Netters" back. :)

This time my blog will have a different look. Gone are the long posts of meticulously edited images. Post will now consist of my random thoughts (which can truly be random!) and single static images, maybe perfect, maybe not.

Life is too short! I hope you live it to it's fullest every day, which means enjoying your precious time here on earth with your family and loved ones and not trapped behind a computer for hours on end. Life is all about what's important to you and balance. This is something I've learned this past year.

Sometimes I wish I lived in Montana so we'd get tons of snow every winter. I'd run around in cozy boots, big wooley sweaters and drink steaming cups of hot cocoa fireside all day long. Then I remember that I hate driving in snow, it looks ugly after the first day and that I can't walk the dogs or baby in it so I'm stuck inside till it melts. But it's still very pretty and peaceful.

Babies... {Lily Star}

Meet Crystal, Alex and baby Lily. Crystal and Alex met while Crystal was Alex's barista. Fast forward five years and the two just welcomed their first child, little Miss Lily Star. I photographed Lily just one day after her true due date (but she arrived over 4 weeks early so this little premie had already been around for a while!) We met for an indoor session on one of THE darkest days I've seen but we still managed to get some precious pics. Lily was in a good mood, bright-eyed and checking things out almost the whole time. And her parents were excited to finally get some pics with her eyes open. Lily Star, welcome to our world. Keep shining brightly like the little star you are :)

Meet the L Family... Brian, MacKenzie and little cutie Cadence. I met MacKenzie through my mommy/baby classes at Evergreen (which, BTW, if you're a new mom I'd highly recommend going. It's a great place for new moms with questions (which was soooo me!) I met with this awesome Eastside family at a local winery on a chilly December day. Everything was going great untill we got kicked off the property for illegally taking pics (yeah, what's up with that? LOL) but we still managed to sneak away with some good shots. And as you can see seven month old Cadence is as cute as a button. MacKenzie and Brian, thanks for letting me photograph your family, it was fun. Enjoy your pics! :)

It's been so fun seeing Kristen go from a glowing prego mama-to-be to a happy, glowing mommy who loves her baby girl. And let me tell you this couple makes one cute baby. Six month old Taylor is super sweet and has THE bluest eyes you've ever seen. They are so. SO. Blue! We took some pics at their home near Mill Creek right before I left for Arizona. It was very cold out and started SNOWING that day, too cold for a little Be-be to be outside in. So we did a bunch of pics inside then braved the frosty air for a few last minute family pics. Meet the P's--Mark, Jenn, Colin & little Jack. I met this sweet family through a mutual friend of ours. They wanted some family pics taken in time for the holidays. We decided to meet at the UW Arboretum as it's a special place for their family and we thought it could be really pretty with all the fall colors. It was a foggy, gray Sunday morning when we met. The lighting was iffy and most of the leaves had already fallen! But everything worked out great (besides, leaves on the ground just means there's more to play with! :) We had a fun time together and you can tell how much this family enjoys being together. Meet the G's--Phil, Shannon, Baby Katie and don't forget the family pooch Lucy. They're also longtime friends of mine :) The G's wanted holiday pics of their family as well as pics capturing Baby Katie as she is at just six months old. Katie has the biggest dark brown eyes you've ever seen and she's super sweet. It was really cold that day so we started with indoor pics then bundled up to brave the cold. There's an awesome fire station by their house so of course we had to take advantage of those firehouse doors :) Katie did really great the whole time but posing for pics is a lot of work! On a gray, drizzly fall day I shot for the talented Dana again, this time bridal and family portraits for a sweet couple at the LDS temple in Bellevue, WA. Dana and I weren't allowed inside the temple but were there to capture their first moments together as husband and wife. Brandon and Kristi met and fell in love while attending school at BYU in Utah 3 years ago. No rain or clouds could ruin their special day, they were both in a great mood, funny, witty and very much in love. There's an old Irish Blessing that says it's good luck if it rains on your wedding day. Well Rory and Alyson must be Really lucky because it rained throughout the afternoon and right up to their reception! :) But you'd never even know it. This bride and groom were so go-with-the-flow even when we had to get creative with pics to avoid getting soaked. Rory and Alyson both looked Amazing and were such a fun couple to work with. I second shot for the talented Dana at the beautiful Albee's Garden in Olympia and had a great time capturing this couple's special day. When I was little my mom would make stuffed green peppers. Probably the same way every mom in America made them--with rice, ground beef, onions and ketchup. And they were good. But a little plain. So. I've kinda kicked them up a notch. Crumbled sweet Italian sausage, rice, mushrooms, stewed tomatoes, lots of garlic, cumin, smoked paprika and brown, bubbly Monterey Jack cheese. The perfect comfort food for the streak of cold rainy weather we're having lately. Oh yeah, and don't forget to pass the sour cream.

My brother and his wife have been like free spirits the last 2 & 1/2 years. Little vagabond gypsies... Hippies really. They quit their jobs, sold their house and travelled. For two and a half years. Yes, Crazy. Yes, Lucky. I know. But what THEY don't know is how much we've missed them. And I'm SO happy to report that my DEAR brother Chad is on a plane AS WE SPEAK from Buenos Aires to American soil. Their trip is done, el finite', Finally! And I couldn't be happier. Both to see him and also because I can finally stop worrying about him dead in a ditch somewhere. Not joking. So Welcome Back Brother, it'll be good to have you home!

When we brought Yogi home from the shelter almost 6 years ago he had the sweetest, softest, velvety, light pink nose. It was so cute, I loved it. But these last two years it's slowly turned brown. He's getting age spots too. (He IS eight after all). Poor Yogs. Just goes to show you no one's exempt from aging... :(

I recently took pics of this fun, beautiful family from the Renton area. Mom & Dad (Eva & Ron), daughters Tionna & Tamearra, Tamearra's fiance Sharief and their adorable baby Cayne. This shoot was easy-breezy even though it was the morning of the I-405 closure and during our super summer heat wave. But despite the bright light we were able to find a small park nearby with green grass and some cool shade to work in. It was great meeting everyone! Here are some of my favorites from your shoot.

Weddings...{Tony & Diane}

A couple weekends ago I was the second shooter for the talented Dana at the wedding of Tony and Diane. Believe it or not this bride is a mortician! But her personality is quite the opposite of her day job--she's definitely full of life and laughter. The wedding was held at the Marysville Opera House in Marysville, WA. It was a lovely location and the weather was picture perfect. The bride and groom looked smashing and the groom was so in love with his bride his face literally lit up every time she was by his side. I'd have to say it was a storybook wedding. Here are some of my favorite images from their special day. Congratulations Tony and Diane, may you live Happily Ever After!

I'll do a real post for this wedding soon but wanted to post these separately cause I thought they turned out really cool. My usual editing style is high contrast/high color and getting the image to look as close to the real thing as possible. But a couple weeks ago I was the second shooter for a military wedding and couldn't resist turning some of my pics into old vintage-style photos. There's just something about the uniform and the white dress that makes these look classic and timeless. I love how they turned out!

On one of THE only warm afternoons we've had lately (boo Seattle rain) I met with Kristen and Pat to photograph them and their little sweet pea, 3 week old Taylor Morgan. You might remember them from their pregnancy shoot a couple months back. This little cutie was so peaceful and almost slept the entire shoot so we were able to do some fun things with her like put her in baskets. BTW--Hey Pat, thanks for lugging my stuff around for me! :) Here are some of my favorites from their shoot. As you can see she's just a little doll and I couldn't be happier for her and her family. On Saturday it was gorgeous out and I was lucky enough to shoot this sweet couple and their sweet little dog Yipi at the Olympic Sculpture Park. Although I've driven by it plenty times I've actually never been to the park and its a pretty cool place for pics! We had fun posing with the art (untill we got in trouble for touching it, oops!) and little Yipi was THE best behaved dog I've seen (although they Did threaten her with "bathtime" if she wouldn't stay put haha) Congrats on your engagement Hoa and Hung, thanks for letting me take your pics! When I found out I was pregnant the photographer in me envisioned daily photo shoots with that sweet newborn baby of mine... Dressing her in tu-tu's, arranging her in earthy baskets and sporting adorable hats while she dreamily slept away... Well 5 weeks, one baby who won't sleep during daylight and a few hundred diaper changes later and reality set in. But at least I got some cute hats. :)

(And a baby who loves her mama, so that's all that really matters :) XoXo

Sunny Seattle...

We've had a LOT of rain in Seattle lately but finally got lucky with sun on Saturday, YAY! Which worked out perfect since I had a shoot downtown that day with this sweet couple (and their little dog too!). Too bad my shoot the next day got cancelled due to rain but oh well, you can't win them all I guess! Hoping to post these pics in the next couple days... Hope you had a nice weekend. :)

Sorry for my lack of blogging lately! I've just been adjusting to life as a new mommy with my sweet baby girl. Everyone is doing great but I sure have a newfound respect for mommies everywhere, it's a lot of work! LOL But I love her to pieces and we're so happy she's ours. I'll be back soon. Promise.

She was a super sweet baby but our shoot almost didn't happen because she did Not want her picture taken! :) Poor thing, we think she was just having an off day LOL. So this little sweet pea is mine :) And I loooove her :) Bunches! But I made the mistake of waiting till she was 14 days old to do her newborn shoot. And I know the photag rule: Newborn shoots must be done within the first 7 days to get those adorable, sleepy, scrunched up shots. But I waited! And Kendall refused to stay in any of the positions I put her in. She just wanted to stretch big and lounge since she's no longer in that sleepy newborn stage. But even though I didn't get the shots I wanted there were still come cute ones. So here is my sweet little baby girl!

This lovely lady and fellow photog needed some headshots to use for her photagraphy website. We had a great afternoon at a local park on a gorgeous spring day. Kim is very sweet and super fun--I love being around her! She's always in a good mood and full of lively conversation. We've been having the best weather in Seattle lately. Sunny, blue sky kind of days where all you want to do is sit with your bare feet in the grass and feel the warm sun on your face. Kendall and I have been taking advantage of the great weather (although she's shaded of course) :). I can't wait till this summer.

Back in August when we first found out we were pregnant I remember thinking April 29th was soooo far away. And here we are already, how did THAT happen? I just can't believe it. But I'm so excited. And so looking forward. To holding the little baby girl who's going to forever change my life. Kendall Avery, mommy can't wait to meet you!!

About being 38 weeks pregnant is that it's dang near impossible to tie your own shoes. I've actually walked the dogs in my slippers the last few days because it's easier. Rob helps me with my socks and shoes when he's home but most days I'm on my own. And it totally sucks!
